Tasting Notes: The "Catharina" is our flagship wine.
The 2006 Catharina Shiraz exhibits a deep dark rich red colour.
On the bouquet, it has a powerful spicy aroma of peppery fruit with herbal and floral overtones in conjunction with hints of vanilla from the quality oak used to mature the wine.
On the palate, this wine is well rounded and powerful on the mid palate, mouth fillingly rich with great weight and structure coupled with blackberry fruit flavours and spicy oak with firm tight tannins on the finish.
It displays the hallmark qualities of a classic Barossa Shiraz.
Wine Making: These top quality low yielding fully ripened grapes were hand picked and then fermented and hand plunged in open vats before being matured in American oak barrels.

2009 Yannarie RIESLING
VINTAGE:2009, GROWING REGION: Barossa Valley, GRAPE VARIETY: Riesling, ALCOHOL: 12.5%
Tasting Notes: this delicate 2009 Riesling exhibits a pale green gold in colour and has aromas of zesty limes/lemons with sweet fragrant florals.
The palate is crisp and shows rich citrus flavours complimented with a slatey mineral like acidity. This wine shows excellent balance, integration and length and will be enjoyed for many years to come.
Food Suggestions:This wine can be enjoyed as an aperitif or will go well with white meat dishes.

2007 Chocolate Box "Dark Chocolate" SHIRAZ
VINTAGE: 2007 , REGION: Barossa Valley, GRAPE VARIETY: 100% Shiraz, TYPICAL ANALYSIS 14.6% Alc/vol, 3.41 pH, 6/96g/L TA
COLOUR: Deep, dark purple hues.
BOUQUET: Strong coffee and chocolate aromas supported with blackberries and spice.
PALATE: Sweet vanillin oak, supportive tannins that finish smooth and silky. The wine also displays a great balance of alcohol, acid and oak.
WINEMAKING: This carefully selected fruit was gently crushed into a series of small open fermenters, where daily rack and returns took place, with careful monitoring of the wines evolvement. Gentle basket pressing took place between 7 to 10 days after crushing.
STORAGE/MATURATION : 18 months of maturation in a mixture of new and used French and American hogsheads, stored in temperature controlled cellars resulted in this flavoursome well made wine.
FOOD MATCHES: Perfect with rosemary and cranberry glazed Rack of Lamb.

2007 R Estate SHIRAZ
VINTAGE: 2007, REGION: Barossa Valley , GRAPE VARIETY: 100% Shiraz, TYPICAL ANALYSIS: 14.5%Alc/Vol, 3.42 pH, 7.6g/L TA
COLOUR: Rich black plum
BOUQUET: Red currants, cherries, followed by chocolate and charry oak.
PALATE: The wine is full of rich red fruits, cloves and earthy notes, supported by fine tannins and elegant oak. The long palate contains generous
fruit and remains focused as it evenly tightens to a long balanced finish with fresh acidity.
MATURATION: Aged in French and American oak, 20% new barrels.
FOOD MATCHES: Duck with parpadelle pasta, oven roasted tender goat infused with fresh tomato olive sauce.

2006 R Estate Shiraz Lot 147
VINTAGE: 2006, REGION: Barossa Valley, GRAPE VARIETY: 100% Shiraz, TYPICAL ANALYSIS: 14.5% Alc/Vol, 3.42 pH, 7.38g/L TA
COLOUR: Deep black currant, cherry red with purple .Blue hues on the rim.
BOUQUET: Rich generous fruit driven lifted nose. Abundant spicy fruit cake with subtle oak balance.
PALATE: Velvet smooth palate supported with warm fruit, silky fine tannins and lovely round mouth feel.
WINEMAKING: The Lot 147 Shiraz was crushed into open fermenters. Fermentation lasted for 10 days, during this time the juice was roughly racked off skins and returned. Careful attention was taken to the monitoring of the wine during this process. The wine was then gently pressed and racked into barrel to complete malolactic fermentation. Further rackings were conducted to ensure full integration of oak and tannin.
STORAGE/MATURATION: Maturation for 22 months in temperature controlled cellars allowed the wine to integrate to a full flavoursome Shiraz.
FOOD: Braised pork with wild mushrooms and blackberries.
